BU to be first to launch BS course

Bangalore: Bangalore University has invited applications for admission to the first batch of the newly launched four-year BS (Bachelor of Science) course on the Jnana Bharathi campus for the academic year 2010-11.
The university is the first in the country to launch the four-year integrated BS course. The prestigious Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and a few other institutes in other parts of the country are set to launch BS programme from the next academic year.
Those who have completed pre-university course from Karnataka or an equivalent 10+2 or CBSE/ICSE, etc in science stream are eligible for admission, said a press release.
The application forms are available from September 2 to 13 without fine.
Application forms can be obtained between September 14 and 15 with a fine of Rs.100 apart from prescribed fee. The last date for submission of application is September 16.
Candidates can obtain the application form and prospectus from State Bank of Mysore, Nagarabhavi branch, Jnana Bharathi, Bangalore, 560056 and K.G Road branch, Bangalore-560001. The application fee for general merit and other categories candidates is Rs. 300 and for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and category-1 of Karnataka it is Rs.150.
The applicants should submit the hard copy of the application in original and other requisite documents by hand or by post to reach the Centralised Admission Cell, Jnana Jyothi auditorium, Central College campus, Bangalore University, Bangalore.
The dates for omnibus merit list and counselling will be announced in due course, the release added.
