Course in 'women's studies' launched

Mangalore: The Centre for Women's Studies, Mangalore University, will offer a one-year certificate course in women's studies from this academic year.

Admission is open to both men and women. The course will focus on gender sensitisation, a press release said.
Subjects will cover the basic issues related to women, society and culture, women's economy and empowerment and their roles in politics and law. Those who have passed pre-university or equivalent courses with a minimum of 45 per cent marks can apply. Homemakers, undergraduate and postgraduate students and employed professionals can join the course. For details, call 2287669.

The classes will be held either at the University College at Hampankatta or on the university campus at Konaje.

They will he held either in mornings or evenings which will be announced later, the release said.
