KSWU inter-collegiate youth festival from today

Bijapur: The Karnataka State Women's University (KSWU) will organise a three-day inter-collegiate youth festival from Thursday at B.R. Ambedkar auditorium on the university premises with an aim to providing a platform for students to exhibit their talents.
Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, KSWU Vice-Chancellor Geeta Bali said that 250 students from 71 women colleges of 12 north Karnataka districts would take part in 24 events in the festival. The festival would be inaugurated by Kannada Development Authority chairman “Mukyamantri” Chandru.

New MLC and KSWU Syndicate member Arun Shahapur would be the chief guest for the concluding ceremony scheduled on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Syndicate has decided to felicitate the MLC.

Detailing various development activities in the university, Ms. Bali said that the university has started offering distance education in a number of subjects both at the post-graduate and under-graduate levels. The university co-ordinates with the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi, by offering IGNOU courses.

The courses offered include MA in English, Hindi, History, Sociology, Economics, Rural Development, Social Work, post-graduate diploma in higher education, nutrition and health education, certificate courses in teaching of English, guidance, functional English, food and nutrition, disaster management and food and safety.

KSWU Registrar S.A. Khazi and Onkar Kakade were present.
