• Of them, five centres were in Bangalore
• 7,500 applications for MBA, MCA courses

Bangalore: The Karnataka Management Aptitude Test, the yardstick for admissions to private quota seats in 130 self-financing MBA and MCA colleges, affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, went held here on Sunday.

This year, 7,500 applications were received for MBA and MCA courses. The examination, which was postponed from July 4 to accommodate students studying in several universities where final year examinations were on, was held in 18 centres across the State. Five of these were in Bangalore. M. Prakash, secretary of the Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges' Association, said that the absentee rate was less than 10 per cent today.

Last year, about 8,500 students appeared for the KMAT 2009 test and around 4,000 candidates were admittedto various colleges on the basis of the KMAT Score ranking.

This year 7,000 seats are available in the management quota for MBA and about 3,000 seats in MCA.

Dr. Prakash said that students found the examination easy. Most students said that it was easier than the PGCET conducted by the VTU for admissions under government quota, he added.
