Shimoga: S.A. Bari, the new Vice-Chancellor of Kuvempu University, has said that he plans to seek the help of the corporate sector in research activities of the varsity.
Prof. Bari, who took over as the seventh Vice-Chancellor of the 23-year-old university, was talking to presspersons after assuming charge at Jnana Sahyadri, the varsity campus, here on Saturday. He said that as Special Officer of the proposed Sri Krishnadevaraya University he had sought the involvement of Jindal Steel Works in research and academic activities. He said: “It is my endeavour to address the university's problems, taking into confidence students and the staff.”

He said he would like to lay more emphasis on research and expansion programmes. He said he wished to revive the Examination Data Programming System (EDPS), which he had introduced as Registrar (Evaluation) of the university at the undergraduate level. He said it could not last long as the problem was not with the system; there were no technically trained staff to handle it in a fool-proof manner. He said the system would work well with improved networking and technically qualified staff.
