COMED-K medical counselling today
Bangalore: The COMED-K has announced its counselling schedule for medical and dental courses.
The first round of admissions to private medical and dental colleges will be held on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, ranks from 1 to 1,500, and on Tuesday, ranks from 1,501 to the last rank will be allotted seats. The venue of the counselling is NMKRV Mangala Mantapa here.
Seats available
However, the consortium has not announced the dates for the engineering admission process. While there are 568 seats in 11 medical colleges on offer, the number of dental seats in 25 private colleges is 730. There are 8,034 candidates who have been allotted UGET ranks and are eligible to appear for the admission rounds. Of these, 4,928 candidates are from outside Karnataka.
This is the second time COMED-K has announced its revised dates.
Initially slated to begin in the first week of July, in order to avoid the clash with the Karnataka Examinations Authority's seat allocation process, the dates were postponed twice.
Now, the COMED-K has decided to hold back its dates for the engineering seat selection and go ahead with the medical/dental counselling process.
Speaking to The Hindu, a key COMED-K official said that private colleges had decided to hold back their engineering schedule.
“The KEA has revised its dates twice. First, it announced the dates as July 7 and now it has delayed it by a week. Given the uncertainty, we would like to wait for the engineering rounds to actually start before making any further announcements,” the official added.
