  • Counselling for engineering seat selection was scheduled to begin on June 18
  • COMED-K postpones first round of counselling
Bangalore: The admission round for the engineering seat selection is likely to commence in the first week of July as the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has assured the State Government that it will give approval for engineering colleges by June 28.

An assurance in this regard was given by AICTE Acting Chairperson S.S. Mantha to State Higher Education Minister Aravind Limbavali, who met Mr. Mantha in New Delhi on Friday. Mr. Limbavali was in Delhi to participate in the Education Ministers' conference.
Principal Secretary (Higher Education) M. Madan Gopal, who accompanied the Minister during the meeting, told The Hindu from New Delhi that the AICTE acting chairman has promised that the council will give its approval by June 28 once the board meeting of the council deliberates on the subject based on the assessment report pertaining to individual colleges.

Mr. Madan Gopal said the State Government would need a few days to prepare the seat matrix and intimate the students about the exact date of commencement of the counselling by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). The admission for engineering seat selection was scheduled to begin on June 18.

He said Mr. Mantha had informed the State that the council had made several improvements in the approval process in the interest of students, and it had to gather vast information as it had introduced web-based approval system this year.
Postponed
Meanwhile, COMED-K on Friday announced postponement of its first round of counselling for professional courses that was scheduled to commence from July 2. COMED-K Executive Secretary S. Kumar said counselling had to be postponed as the KEA had postponed the counselling for all courses.
