Quota sought for BC students in NLSIU

Bidar: Leaders of AHINDA, a federation of minorities, Backward Classes and Dalits, have urged the Bangalore-based National Law School of India University (NLSIU) to provide reservation in admission to students from backward classes.

“It is sad that a public institution such as NLSIU has not reserved seats for students from backward classes,'' Ahinda president K. Mukudappa has said.
“Similar institutions in Bihar and Chhattisgarh are providing reservation to BCs. Rajastan has made similar arrangements. We want to make a beginning in Karnataka by convincing NLSIU to extend this facility,” he has said.

A delegation of AHINDA leaders would meet NLSIU Vice-Chancellor R. Venkata Rao on Monday, Mr. Mukudappa has said.

It would try to convince him and other officials of the university about this, he has said.

“If steps in this direction fail, we will initiate legal action,'' Mr. Mukudappa has said.
