Colleges in Hubli-Dharwad celebrate their annual day

Event:Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar inaugurating the annual day celebrations of S.D.M. College of Engineering and Technology in Dharwad.

Hubli: Many colleges celebrated their annual day in the twin cities over the last two weeks even as guest lectures and other extracurricular programmes continued in educational institutions.
The Oxford College for BBA, BCA and B.Com celebrated its annual day Harsha through daylong programmes. The celebrations began with a prize distribution ceremony for various competitions and concluded with cultural programmes.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the J.K. Education Society Jagadish Kalyanshettar called upon students not to follow the “crowd” while making career choices. Journalist Yatiraj asked them to dream big.

Inaugurating the valedictory function, Sri Siddalinga Swami of the Tontadarya Math at Gadag said the world would become different when change occurred at the individual level.

Releasing the first newsletter of the college, the swami recalled the contribution of India to the world. Manohar Maski, MLC, said financial management was an art and asked the students to learn it. Former minister Basavaraj Horatti, chairman of the college Vasanth Horatti and Principal Manjula Mathew were present.
On communication
Participating as chief guest in the annual gathering of SDM College of Engineering and Technology, Hubli Dharwad Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar said communication was very important as it was only through proper communication skills that one could ensure his or her personality development.

Deputy Secretary of the SDME Society Jeevanderkumar said students should take more interest in studies as well as co-curricular activities. Principal and Director M.N.S. Rao presented the annual report. Speaking at the annual day celebrations of the Institute of Business Management and Research (IBMR), Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation Commissioner P.S. Vastrad asked the students to contribute towards implementing the “Vision 2020” document espoused by former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

Mr. Vastrad conferred the ‘Best Boy' and ‘Best Girl' awards to Prashanth Shetty and Sudha Ekbote respectively. Prasad Reddy and Manjusha Nair bagged the general champion prize in the boys' and girls' categories. Managing Director of IBMR Group Vinachandra Mahendrakar presided over the function.
‘Work consistently'
The KLE Institute of Technology conducted its second annual gathering with Chief Executive Officer of Sankalp Semiconductors Vivek Pawar participating as chief guest. Mr. Pawar called upon the students to work consistently to achieve their goals. Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar asked them to emulate great personalities, in their day to day functioning. Principal Basavaraj Anami presided over the function.
