Work in harmony, Syndicate tells BU top brass
Bangalore: Several members of the Bangalore University Syndicate, during a special meeting on Monday, reportedly took exception to the differences between the Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar and the Registrar (Evaluation).
According to sources, the majority of the Syndicate members were of the view that lack of cooperation among the three was affecting the administration besides harming the image of the university.
The Syndicate unanimously resolved to ask the Registrar, Registrar (Evaluation) and the Vice-Chancellor to work in harmony in the day-to-day administration of the University.
The sources said that the issue of non-cooperation among the three was raised when Registrar M.G. Krishnan and Registrar (Evaluation) M.S. Talwar informed the meeting that they did not have details regarding the e-governance initiative and the introduction of IT-based security enhancing system for undergraduate examination and evaluation process as the matter was directly dealt with by the office of the Vice-Chancellor.
At that juncture, the sources said, several syndicate members questioned the action of the Vice-Chancellor in bypassing the Registrar, and the Registrar (Evaluation), appointing several high-power committees without the knowledge of the Syndicate, and also issuance of notification inviting tenders for smart card-based e-governance project even when the Syndicate had not given consent for the project.
The syndicate members asked the trio to work in harmony without sidelining each other.
Meanwhile, the Syndicate approved, in principle, the smart-card project and proposal submitted by the Indian Centre for Social Transformation to participate in the ongoing examination reforms by the university.
