Students withdraw indefinite strike

Davangere: Students of University BDT Engineering College here continued their demonstration on Thursday, demanding basic facilities for the college and the issue of examination results on time, until they were assured that their demands would be met.

Davangere University Vice-Chancellor Indumathi and Chief Whip in the State Legislative Council A.H. Shivayogiswamy rushed to the college to pacify the student leaders. Ms. Indumathi told the students that steps had already been taken to provide drinking water at all departments in the college. Steps are also being taken to repair the toilets.
Kuvempu University Registrar (Evaluation) Ramegowda promised the students that all pending results would be released by the end of the month, adding that future results would also be released on time. In response to a question from students, he said that results of the examination would be announced within 40 days of the examinations.

Mr. Shivayogiswamy and Ms. Indumathi assured the students that the college would also be provided a generator and a digital laboratory. Earlier, students from the college had complained that there still no digital laboratory in the 60-year-old college.

Following the assurances, students withdrew their indefinite strike.

The Vice-Chancellor has also promised the students that he would visit the college at least once a month to hear the students' grievances.
