Rs. 1 crore released to math for opening a students' hostel and vedapatashala
Bangalore: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has ordered release of Rs. 1 crore to Sujnanaprabhu Vishvabrahmana Mahasamsthana Math to build and run the Vishvakarma Students Hostel and Vedapatashala and a memorial for Jakanachari, who built Somanathapura, Halebid and Belur temples.
Thanking Mr. Yeddyurappa for the kind gesture, Labour Minister B.N. Bache Gowda told presspersons that Gurushiva Sujnanamurthy Swamiji of the math located in Arkalgud taluk had given a memorandum requesting for grant of Rs. 3 crore for the hostel-patashala at Papareddy Palya, near Jnanabharathi complex in Bangalore. The cost of the project is Rs. 5 crore.
The swamiji wanted to build and consecrate a statue of Jakanachari on the premises of Channa Keshava Temple at Belur in Hassan district. Mr. Gowda said that the swamiji planned to build a memorial for the sculptor near his grave.
Mr. Gowda said that there were 35 lakh people belonging to the Vishvakarma community and urged the Chief Minister to take up development works for their benefit which the latter had promised to consider in the coming years.
The Minister thanked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Labour and Employment Minister Mallikarjun M. Kharge for the decision to bring unorganised labour under the Employees State Insurance. This would benefit 10 lakh employees.
He said the children of farmers, who lose land for development/infrastructure projects would be considered for admission to industrial training institutes.
The industries were giving 80 per cent of the posts in C and D category to Kannadigas under the Sarojini Mahishi Committee recommendations and not the technical posts on the premise that suitable candidates were not available from among Kannadigas.
