Unique inauguration: Students demonstrating building rappelling during the launch of NIE Adventure Sports Centre in Mysore recently.
Mysore: The Adventure Sports Centre of National Institute of Engineering (NIE) was inaugurated here recently to conduct various adventure sport-related activities such as trekking, mountaineering, cycle expeditions, tube rafting and archery among others.
The Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, NIE, Mysore, in association with the International Academy of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (IAMAS), Mysore, has launched the centre.
A demonstration of mountaineering skills by NIE students and staff volunteers marked the launch of Adventure Sports Centre.
“The centre will be dedicated for adventure sports and aims to inculcate interest for adventure sports among its members. Various activities will be conducted in association with IAMAS for NIE students,” a press release said.
The release added that recently several students underwent a four-day training in different types of rappelling such as sling, shoulder and stomach rappelling at the NIE golden jubilee rooftop here.
