Keerti tops university by bagging nine gold medals
Gulbarga: Keerti Ganapath Hegde of the Vijayanagar Institute of Management in Bellary has secured the highest number of gold medals among students of Gulbarga University who appeared for the examinations conducted in the academic year 2008-09. Keerti Ganapath Hegde has bagged nine gold medals by securing the highest marks in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) examination.
Governor H.R. Bhardwaj, the Chancellor of Gulbarga University, will present gold medals and cash awards to Keerti and several other students during the 28th Annual Convocation for 2008-09 of Gulbarga University to be held in the main campus of the university in Gulbarga on February 17.
Girls outnumbered boys in winning the gold medals and cash prizes. Girl students secured 93 gold medals while boy students won 46 gold medals. And, 12 girls won cash prizes leaving only four for boys.
Students who studied in the department of science and technology secured the maximum number of gold medals in comparison to that won by students of other departments. Girl students won 51 gold medals and boy students secured 13.
According to the list of the gold medal winners releasedto the press by Registrar S.L. Hiremath and Registrar (Evaluation) D.B. Nayak here on Monday, Ramachandra Siddanna stood second in the university by winning seven gold medals by securing the highest marks in M.Sc. (Mathematics), K Prahalad stood third by winning six gold medals by topping in MA (Kannada) examination.
Students who secured five gold medals are: Sonia Tarachand Mantri by scoring the highest marks in M.Sc. (Bio Chemistry), Sridevi B. Satyanarayana (M.Sc Organic Chemistry), and Nazreen Begum (MCA).
Students who won four gold medals are: Bi Bi Zainab Rauf Mazhari (M.Sc Microbiology), Madhav Sridhar (M.Sc Physics) and Prakash Veerabhadrappa Tanavanshi (LLB).
