Manipal varsity felicitates 95 employees, 51 students

Manipal: The Manipal University felicitated 95 employees for completing 25 years of service and presented 51 students with merit certificates for their performance in the 2009-10 entrance test. These certificates entitle the recipient student for freeship in their undergraduate courses.

A press release issued by the university here on Thursday stated that two best poster awards were also given for research in the health science category and combined technical and management category, at a function on Tuesday. The award had been introduced to encourage research in the university, the release said.
The awards were given to Sanjiban Chakrabarty, research scholar at Manipal Life Sciences Centre, and Dhanya Sunil, lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at the Manipal Institute of Technology.

Ramdas M. Pai, president of Manipal University, complimented the employees and urged the students to keep the Manipal flag flying wherever they went. He said a University Grants Commission survey report had included Manipal University amongst the top 38 varsities of the country for facilities and fulfilment of criteria, he said.

Pro-Chancellor H.S. Ballal said the university focussed on quality. Registrar G.K. Prabhu welcomed the gathering.
