A variety of dishes were served by students of WGSHA at the event
  • Event was by Welcomgroup School students
  • French and Arabic food festivals held earlier
Manipal: “Black and White”, the last in a series of food festivals conducted by students of Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA), concluded here recently.

A press release issued by Manipal University here said the two food festivals held earlier were the French and the Arabic food festivals.
Hands-on exercise
“It’s a hands-on exercise for students after their classroom lectures and practical sessions,” said vice-principal of WGSHA Kulmohan Singh. “These fests are intended to provide students experience for the kind of jobs they will get.”

The last fest was spread over three days and the final day belonged solely to the students.

On the first two days, the students, liveried to match the theme, worked like busy bees.

Taking orders, serving and of course displaying the etiquette of the hospitality industry. On the concluding day, they were allowed to let their hair down with dance and fun.

In sync
“Black and White” was the theme of the festival. The décor, the ambience, the table set-ups, the drapes, the bar and everything else was in sync with the theme.

The menu included seafood cake, chicken meatloaf, beef salad and bruschetta (slices of garlic baguette with olives and dried tomatoes).
Main course
The main course had seafood, fish, chicken, mutton and beef, plus an array of dishes such as tortellini, ravioli and risotto for vegetarians. The students of WGSHA, being famous for creating delicious desserts, served crêpes, poached pears, blueberry cheesecake and a dish called “The study of chocolate”.
