Taking music, dance to students

Mangalore:The Karnataka Music and Dance Academy will organise programmes from Monday to infuse interest among school and college students in classical dance and music and light classical music.

Nagesh A. Bappanadu, member of the academy, said in a statement here on Saturday that the first programme would be held at the Sarojini Madhusoodhan Kushe School here on Monday at 11 a.m. Sangeetha Balachandar and party would present a light classical music programme. It would be inaugurated by the saxophonist Kadri Gopalanath at 10.30 a.m., he said.

On Tuesday, students of Sanatana Natyalaya, Mangalore, will present Bharatanatya for the Canara group of institutions at T.V. Raman Pai Hall at 9.30 a.m.

Prarthana and party will present devotional music at Govindadasa College, Surathkal, at 10 a.m. on Wedensday. The same day, Jayadevi Jangamshetty of Dharwad will present light classical music at SDM Law College at 3 p.m.

On Janauary 28 at 10.30 a.m. students of Gananritya Vidyapith will present Bharatanatya at Sharada Vidyalaya at 10.30 a.m.

The same day, a dance-drama “Nritya-satya” will be presented at St. Agnes College at 2 p.m. The organisers said that the programme was aimed at instilling interest among students about the cultural art forms of the State, especially the classical music and dance.
